Mighty Z50J Red build
I allready had a topic about this bike, but after a lots of post got lost i decided to make a new thread and show you how far i am with my build
I have wanted to do a build as long as i have been into little Hondas, but so far i havent done any because i havent found the "right" bike to build. I dont want to do a project out of a good working close to original bike. About a year ago i found something perfect for the build and had to get it.
It did look promising as it looked to be in a bad shape which means i wont regret making build out of it.
When i got it home and started inspecting it i saw that most of the parts are not usable, but its still is good base for a build. I had allready collected some parts over the time including this Kitaco Z-style seat. After little cleaning and quick mock up it looked like this in October 2013.
Over a year has passed and i have collected a lot of parts for the build! Here are some of the nicest:
1. TB88 race head, TB HD clutch built on CRF70 engine
2. iShock SB3 shocks with 150lbs springs
3. Takegawa forged aluminum kickstart lever
4. ASV clutch lever which im going to use as a brake lever
5. Renthal Playbike bars
And here are the wheels i built for the project.
1. G-Craft 4.0 rims
2. Honda hubs powdercoated and rebuilt with all new Honda original parts and SKF bearings
3. Mighty Minis 30t aluminium sprocket
4. Stainless bolts, nuts and washers
5. Bridgestone Trail Wing 3.50 tires
Pictures of first mock up will follow soon and dont forget to visit http://www.mightyminis.eu . You can also find Mighty Minis from Facebook
Let me know what you think so far?

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
looking great! Always fun watching foreigners build bikes when you use different parts that we are used to (those rims, shocks)
2 kpl kiinanmankia rakenteilla kesän ajoihin.
Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
Looking really good! Are you going to paint this all original?
"Ei se millä, vaan miten!"
"Kierteet paskaks ja kierros auki"
"Tyhmä saa olla, muttei metallimiäs"

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
Thanks guys.
As for paint i am going to leave it as it is, adds a little bit of characteristic and its something different.

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
Once again, looking very good What are you gonna do with the front fork, try to fix that or get maybe better fork like lowered usd ?
Teoria on sitä, että kaikki tiedetään, mutta mikään ei toimi. Käytäntö taas sitä, että kaikki toimii, mutta kukaan ei tiedä miksi.
Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
I want to keep the stock ride height as the rear shocks are same size as stock ones. I would like to have Daytona forks, but they are quite expensive to get, atleast now. I think i would go with stock front end as i have new Honda internal parts, just need new fork legs, and i will update it later...

Well i managed to get this piece of art- Daytona DOHC head for small block. As much as i want to keep it i am selling it to fund my project. I actually made quite nice order from Japan to get some bigger parts im missing. You will hear about it soon and ofcourse i will post pictures.

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
Heavy breathing I think you are the first one in Monkeyt.net that manages to find DOHC head. I understand if you need to sell it, but thats just soooo cool head.

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
While the DOHC heads are nice to look at, I'm sure you're well aware of the maintenance of these heads. The valves are terrible on both the daytona and the takegawa units. And they don't last very long.. I also find the DOHC heads terrible drivers, especially on lower displacements.
Good thing that the daytona spares are a bit cheaper than takegawa.

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
You are so right! Double the parts- double the cost to repair, plus the DOHC head needs a lot of maintance. Read from Planetminis that valves last 5-20hours depending how hard the engine is ridden.Halaro kirjoitti:While the DOHC heads are nice to look at, I'm sure you're well aware of the maintenance of these heads. It replaces battery so it saves weight

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
Yeah I got that but how it works? And why can`t you just take the whole battery off?

Re: Mighty Z50J Red build
It's basically a capacitor. It holds charge like a battery, but only when the engine is running. It eliminates the problems of having a battery, but you can still run things like blinkers, horn, etc. with it.onkimato kirjoitti:Yeah I got that but how it works?
